The worst bit’s when I come to and I see their faces

Last year I co-wrote Helen’s Story, a book about a young woman’s life with epilepsy. The book takes the form of a diary recording Helen’s experience with this little-understood condition.
Each diary entry is accompanied by a photograph of Helen, shot by photographer, Matt Thompson. I worked closely with both of them for many months, helping Helen to shape her notes into a narrative.
In March 2014 Helen’s Story inspired The Observer New Review cover feature, written by journalist Kate Kellaway. The response from the public was overwhelmingly positive and supportive.
